Post Holiday Update (Jan 2010)

First off - Happy Belated Thanksgiving....Merry belated Christmas...and Happy belated New Year!!

Things have been really hectic since the last post. Been focusing on cleaning up a lot of things and drastically reducing the amount of crap I have to make life a little easier, and also to help refocus on my hobbies - the Arcade, the GN, and music. I also will try to keep the page up to date as much as I can.

Speaking of Music - RIP to James Sullivan, aka "The Rev", drummer for the band Avenged Sevenfold. He was found dead in his home on December 28th at age 28. Autopsy results are pending, although his "rock n roll" lifestyle was well known. Rest in peace man!!!

So as far as some hobby updates...the arcade hasn't been touched...almost literally...since November. I do plan to get back over there and start tinkering again, but the weather here has been very windy and in the low 20s, which my little heater over there just cannot cope with. I did get a newer Megatouch which I spent a little time on here at home. Its a Maxx Emerald 2 - was working but a project nonetheless. Every fan in it save for the cpu fan was dead. I took it apart, cleaned it up a bit, replaced the fan in the power supply ,the cpu fan (was dying) and the 2 fans in the back of the case with new ones. Its pretty quiet and so far has gotten quite a bit of use since its actually here at home. Thanks Joe!

Also - I acquired another cabinet, which I have no immediate plans for yet, but we'll see.

Lastly...the GN is safe and sound in storage out of the weather, and soon I'll be starting "the list" of all the crap I gotta do to it in the spring. This will be the make or break year...I gotta start working on it!

Anyhow - have fun, be safe, and best of Love, Luck, and Life to all in 2010!!

Several Updates

So there's been a few things on lately, not the least of which have been any kind of arcade fun, so no progress there...

CARS - Man, talk about when it rains, it POURS. Several car problems all within about 2 weeks or less has me considering car shopping for the first time in 9 years. Most of my buckets are pretty high mileage and/or beat (or both), so it wasn't a complete surprise, but all at once kinda sucks!

  • The GN sprung a fuel leak on the return line under the engine, which is warranting replacement of both hard fuel lines between the top of the engine and the frame lines. I picked up a set from Kirbans but not cheap at $90 each!!!!
  • The GTP, well, recently developed a "I don't feel like starting" syndrome, which only happened at the most inopportune times. I tracked that down to the harness we used to install the alarm, so for now, I had to unhook it. There's a bad connection somewhere. On top of that and all its other woes, the I found the upper engine mounts are shot, and after ordering those and a few more parts from the W-Body store, the power steering pump completely crapped out! I guess it never ends when your car has over 203,000 miles onit.
  • Lastly, my little beater v-dub lost reverse :-( Not happy about that, as ugly as it is I really liked that car. I knew it was coming since reverse has always been noisy, but again, all these things all at once. It sounds pretty bad - there's about 3 teeth left on the reverse gear. Just enough to kinda BANG the car backwards but thats about it.

MAGNA - Currently arranging a caravan to get a bunch of us to go the Preston and Steve Campout for Hunger. Magna collected some canned goods at the meet today at Fudds which was cool.

Lastly - trying to get ready for the holidays. Been doing a LOT, and I do mean a LOT of cleaning and clearing off things.

Oh well...guess I have a couple more very busy weeks ahead - Happy Thanksgiving to all!
