Trying to get some new posts going as I’ve been slacking lately, but for a good reason; I’ve been crazy busy! One project that someone turned me on to was one found on Hackaday; specifically this project: https://hackaday.io/project/2836-arduino-teletype

Well here’s a nifty tool I didn’t know existed! If you happen to manage Lenovo devices, such as Thinkpads, Ideapads, etc and would like to have a preview of what the BIOS screens look like, perhaps prior to getting new models, or perhaps walking someone through changing a setting over the phone, then this is for you!

So yeah, the guy who practically -never- watches TV, finally broke down and bought a newer AppleTV 4k to replace my gen3 AppleTV.
I held off buying new, since I don’t really watch TV, I don’t really use it “that much”, however with winter kicking in I’ve been finding myself watching more Youtube vids, and with a new Pluralsight subscription thanks to a black friday deal, wanting to watch some courses.

Happy New Year! I’m frankly suprised it took me this long to put something up for the new year, but I’ve been busy at work and busy at home as well.
First off was a visit to the annual Magfest show in Washington, DC at the National Harbor.

This day last year (2018) I took my nephew to the city, and we went to watch the Wanamaker Light Show. As we waited a gentleman offered to show us the organ console up close, and we got to hang out and watch the light show from the console, then witness the finale get played on the mighty Wanamaker organ in Philadelphia, literally the largest fully-functional musical instrument on the planet…

Always interesting poking around Reddit to read how others deal with their daily battles. Today I came across this article On Reddit that mentioned something I’ve never heard of before: Fail to Wire.

(Feeling nostalgic)
While I know BBSes still exist in modern telnet form, and I’m sure even a few (at least one of which I used merely a couple years ago) with real modem and phone line connectivity, I really long for my BBS days where I signed in, played some door games, sent a bunch of messages, and tried downloading Doom for the 12th time (MOM PUT THE PHONE DOWN!).

I have some more in-depth articles in the works, one of them mentioning connecting to BBSes and using door games back in the good old days. Figured I’d ask – if you used bulletin boards back in the day, what was your favorite door game(s)?
